Regulatory status

Our products are sold as foods or food supplements. Statements on this site have not been evaluated by the US Food and Drug Administration or any other regulatory authority. Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. References to traditional use describe how ashwagandha has historically been used, and are not claims about what our product does.

Who should take extra care

Ashwagandha is not suitable for everyone. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you:

  • are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding (ashwagandha should be avoided)
  • take any prescription or over-the-counter medicine, especially for thyroid conditions, diabetes, blood pressure, sleep, anxiety or depression, or immunosuppressants
  • have a thyroid, autoimmune or liver condition
  • are scheduled for surgery
  • are allergic to plants in the nightshade family

Ashwagandha is not recommended for children. Rare cases of liver injury have been reported in people taking ashwagandha supplements. Stop using it and seek medical advice if you notice symptoms such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, abdominal pain or unusual tiredness.

Use as directed

Do not exceed the recommended serving. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of children.
